Case Study 01
From admin work to writing her first ML model — Azreen, Stages 01 & 02
Challenge
Azreen had been working in administrative roles and wanted to move into a technical area without doing a full degree. She had no programming background and was not sure where to start. She found several course options but was put off by the pace and the cost — most were priced in USD and moved quickly past basics she had not yet understood.
What she did
She enrolled in Stage 01 in January 2025 and set aside eight hours each week around her work schedule. She attended most live sessions and watched the others the following day. She asked questions on three occasions and received detailed responses each time. After finishing, she enrolled directly in Stage 02 the following cohort.
Where she is now
By June 2025, Azreen had completed Stage 02 and submitted a portfolio project — a small model that predicted equipment maintenance needs based on sensor data from her previous workplace. She is now exploring whether Stage 03 makes sense in the short term or whether she wants to consolidate what she has before going further.

Case Study 02
A software developer adding AI to what he already knew — Hafiz, Stage 03
Challenge
Hafiz had four years of experience as a web developer and was comfortable with Python, but had avoided AI because he did not know where to start. He found most introductory courses repeated things he already knew for too long before reaching anything new. He wanted to go directly to building applications.
What he did
After a short conversation with the Akal Suria team, he was advised to begin at Stage 03 given his background. He joined the April 2025 cohort and spent twelve weeks working on a capstone project — an AI-assisted support tool for a freelance project he was already running. He found the deployment section most relevant to his existing skills.
Where he is now
Hafiz completed Stage 03 in June 2025. His capstone application is now in limited use on one of his client projects. He described the process as filling in a specific gap — not rebuilding everything he knew, but connecting it to AI in a structured way he had not managed independently.
"Going directly to Stage 03 made sense for where I was. The team were straight with me about which stage to pick, which I appreciated."
